| BENTLEY
SHELLAHAMER, Assistant Dean and Professor of Music Education
at Florida State
University, has been on the faculty since 1977. He previously
served as director of the Marching Chiefs and Associate Conductor
of Bands for twelve years. Prior to joining the College of Music
faculty, Dr. Shellahamer was the Band Director at James Rickards
High School in Tallahassee and Piper High School in Fort Lauderdale.
During his teaching career he has served in various offices
in the Florida Bandmasters Association, the Broward County Music
Educators Association, and Phi Beta Mu National Honorary Band
Directors Fraternity. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Shellahamer
earned both the Bachelor of Music Education and the Master of
Music Education degrees from Florida State University. He earned
the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Ohio State University.
In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Shellahamer conducts
the Wind Symphony in the fall semester, and teaches various
music education courses. He is the co-author of a widely used
textbook on marching band techniques, has served as an adjudicator
for band festivals and contests throughout the nation, and is
active as a clinician/ conductor. |
